Missing Child – Sophia Parker

A McKinleyville woman whose toddler is the subject of a major search effort in Trinity County has told officials she doesn’t remember driving there or having Sophia with her.

2 1/2 year old Sophia Parker is missing. She is 36″ tall, weighs 33 pounds, has blue eyes and long, curly auburn hair. Sophia was last seen with her mother, Claudia Parker (right), in McKinleyville, California at 12:30 AM on May 20, 2011.
About nine (9) hours later, the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office noticed Claudia walking (naked) on Highway 3 near Coffee Creek Road in the Trinity Lake area over 100 miles away.
Claudia could not remember driving there or having Sophia with her.
She was driving a 2008 silver Kia sedan. If you saw Claudia Parker traveling on Highway 299 or Highway 3, please contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or Sergeant Wayne Hanson at 268-3639 or Detective Kyla Smith at 268-3643.

Humboldt County deputies released more information today about the search for a missing 2 ½-year-old Humboldt County girl whose mother was found walking Friday morning naked on the side of a Trinity County highway.

Daniel Stein:
Obviously a parent with mental health issues. The article states that she had been arrested on endangerment charges previously. It is sad that we live in a country without adequite services for those suffereing from mental illness. This is …the continuing legacy of Reagan. So incredibly sad to see a life lost for no reason, and likely another life ruined. I don’t see how the mother will ever recover well from her issues while this responsability hangs on her soul.
