SoHum Awareness: Adrianna, An ambulance responded and animal control took a dog so I am making an assumption that there was an injury that meant the dog owner could not care for the dog at this time. Mind you that is an assumption. I’m still monitoring the accident. Thank you for adding information. Did you have a wait?–Kym

Sarah Beresford: I saw the guy at the hospital, he came out in hand cuffs and was put in the CHP car. I over heard them saying he was the driver, but not 100% sure!
Saturday at 7:34pm
SoHum Awareness: Interesting–they said major injuries on the CHP site. I wouldn’t think he’d be walking anywhere unless there was someone else there who was hurt.
Saturday at 10:31pm
Sarah Beresford: I’m not sure but they brought him in an ambulance, and they said he was the driver. Huh was there another accident? He seemed out of it.
Saturday at 10:36pm
SoHum Awareness: There were some other accidents maybe this guy was from one of those.
Sunday at 9:56am
Marianne Odisio: I came through going north at about 3:45… waited about 15 minutes, one-way controlled traffic… by then, the motor home was still sitting there, and across the road, I saw what looked like a family, bored & waiting around… wondered if …they’d been in the motor home & somehow miraculously escaped injury?? That thing looked pretty torn up & shredded. The cab looked like it was dented, cracked windshield… Any updates on what happened in that accident?

Driver of motor home arrested for DUI
The Times-Standard
Posted: 07/12/2011 02:00:41 AM PDT

The California Highway Patrol reported that a 24-year-old Fresno man was arrested on felony DUI charges after the motor home he was driving struck a guard rail and a tree south of Confusion Hill on U.S. Highway 101, injuring two of his passengers.

The CHP said Eric Leslie Harry was driving a 1982 Ford motor home southbound at 2:46 p.m. Saturday when “due to Harry’s level of intoxication,” the vehicle left the road and struck a guardrail, continued out of control and struck a tree.

The CHP said Harry was not injured, but 21-year-old Anthony J. Sherman of Puyallup, Wash., who was in the rear of the motor home, was transported by air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries. The CHP said 28-year-old Daniel J. Terry of Mesa, Ariz., who was also in the rear of the motor home, was transported by ambulance to Jerold Phelps Community Hospital in Garberville with moderate injuries. Jeffrey Clinton Maddox, 31, of Austin, Texas, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was uninjured.

The CHP said Harry was arrested and booked into the Mendocino County jail on felony DUI charges. The CHP is investigating the accident.
